I have always been obsessed with TV shows that have a cast that is styled to the nines. Recently, I have been revisiting a lot of the classics and *insert Carrie Bradshaw voice* I got to thinking, are tv shows that feed the soul with style and fashion really the way to go? The answer is a resounding hell yes. I personally love watching and observing the Dior handbag on Blair’s arm on the Met steps, the classic Manolo Blahnik pair of shoes that Carrie swoons over and the Gucci power suit that Fallon struts in. So here are three of my favourite picks for shows to watch that will fill your heart’s desire when it comes to some of the most fashionable looks in TV shows.
Gossip Girl
No show recommendation of this sort can be complete without this iconic and classic drama. I literally spent all of my teen years watching the fashion and outfits in this show, forever being in awe of how Serena would strut so gracefully in heels and how elegant Blair always managed to look even on the worst of days when seemingly everything in her character’s life was falling apart. I get nostalgic when I see all the rhinestone headband fever and changing bags to match each new outfit in every other scene. It’s one of those shows that I watch over and over again because it’s so much fun to watch the inspiring fashion looks the entire cast are styled in. And yes, that even includes the male cast (specifically, our purple loving Chuck Bass).
Sex and the City
This is one of my classic forever favourite shows. It’s the show that introduced me to the world of shopping, understanding the importance of Manolo Blahnik, designer handbags and having best girlfriends. It’s super entertaining watching all four women (but let’s be real, mostly Carrie and Samantha) look fabulous for a night out in Manhattan or even grabbing ice cream in Central Park. If there was one influential character in tv fashion, I sincerely believe it to be Carrie. Even today, I think it is one of those shows any girl with a knack for the fashion world and city life would absolutely love to binge.
Dynasty
Honestly, while the story line is just out of this world crazy cliché and dramatic, you have to give it to this show for having amazing stylists. I actually find it pretty entertaining to watch Fallon dress up each season’s latest couture and off the runway pieces in different scenes and style them oh so well! If you’re going to watch a show purely for the looks, this is an excellent pick to enjoy this summer.
