After a very hectic November of moving our lives and living out of suitcases, it was suddenly the first week of December and officially time for my birthday. With moving to the West Coast having drained me of all energy and not wanting to see the inside of a plane for a hot minute, I just wanted a drive away spot and Carmel was one of the first Google hits that seemed like the perfect relaxing getaway.
Where to Stay and Do in Carmel Valley
Cue a few hours of driving later, we were at the Bernardus Lodge and Spa tucked away in the picture-eqsue Carmel Valley. I spent the next two days sleeping, steaming, getting massages and soaking in bath tubs, which was my idea of a perfect birthday this year. The next day, we spent driving to the quaint town of Carmel by-the-Sea which is lined with the cutest local and high street boutiques leading to the Carmel Beach.
