Historically, I have never been a massive fan of Burberry handbags. While I have appreciated their classic scarves and trench coats, their handbag styles always felt quite dated and boring for my personal taste. More of a ‘mommy’ bag print and style if I may. So when I saw the whole ‘Thomas Burberry’ brand refresh through Riccardo Tisci’s creative direction, I was very into the whole young and glam logo vibe it brought to the table with the Burberry Lola bag catching my eye back in 2020.
My trip to New York seemed like the perfect time and place to pick it up. Originally, I had my heart set on the Camel colored Burberry Lola with gold hardware but a friend saw the grey version, snapped a pic and I was instantly switching over to my new found love. Personally, I’ve never mixed metals or gold and silver tones but this was just such an elegant mix of grey and gold that I was very into it immediately.
Aesthetics
The bag itself is so classic in it’s soft structure, monochrome stitching and deliciously soft Italian lambskin leather. The hardware addition feels like you’re wearing a really beautiful and glamorous piece of shoulder candy. I went for the ‘small‘ size because it fits SO much stuff and can be styled super well as both a shoulder bag as well as a cross body bag.
Where to Buy
I originally tried buying it on Farfetch (shop the bag here + also get $100 off $650 purchase here), especially since it was my first purchase on the site and I was getting a 10% off code on it, but for some reason my credit card wasn’t working on the U.S. site so I ended up ordering it on Bergdorf Goodman. Through them, even with taxes it ended up being $300 less expensive than what it was in Canada which was an excellent perk! If you’re looking for a little discount, then Farfetch, Matches Fashion and Neiman Marcus are the best places where I have found between 10-15% off codes and also have this specific color and size in stock. Do keep in mind though, one weird thing I noted was that the bag is a very light grey color on the Burberry website, but in person it’s a significantly darker grey.
All in all, I would 100% recommend this handbag if you’re in the market for a grey one. From what I’ve seen it’s a very low key luxury handbag that’s not all over the gram helping out on the unique factor!
